Steeple-shaped Peace Pole, page 2
Size: So that you can get a sense of their sizes, at right is a photo of the Steeple Peace Pole with a normal size cedar peace pole leaning next to it (taken before the text shown below was put on it).
Shape: Part of what I am working on is the fact that if you see a pole with vertical text on it in different languages, you know that it is a peace pole. But the shape of it, the silhouette you see against the horizon, gives no indication of what it is. It seems to me that there ought to be a shape that defines them too, or at least some of them. Have you ever seen a pole this shape before? Once you have seen this one, if you ever see another, you will know what it is even at a distance.
This steeple-shaped peace pole is triangular in cross section and each side is a triangle - strong shapes. It is made out of stainless steel. It stands 14 feet above ground (with 2.5 feet of its 16.5 feet length buried). When you stand next to it, it feels like the right size for a peace pole.
Currently I'm working on a shorter, 10-foot, version.
